Dr Sue Berry has been studying the Stanford family of Preston Manor, for many years.
We will be looking for photographs of the area north of Preston Circus to Preston Drove, and between London Road and Ditchling Road – the area of the Stanford Estate – to illustrate Sue’s text. We would also like to include plans and excerpts from deeds of some of the houses on the estate.

My family house was Eden House, 79 Preston Drove until 1973 when I moved to Bristol for a new position. It had originally been called South View until the view disappeared as Preston Park Avenue expanded at the end of the 19th century and it became Eden House. Before I sold it I photocopied the deeds and other documents concerning the property. I have always had a great love of Brighton and in particular the Preston area (and still have) and have collected whatever I could over the years.
